Prancing Pony
brewery tour
By : Beer Adelaide
July 2015
On the weekend I had the pleasure of venturing into the Adelaide Hills to visit the Prancing Pony Brewery,
located at 42 Mt Barker Road, Totness.

As with every other visit to the brewery the place was packed, with all seating spaces at a premium, which was great to see on a cold winters day.

The setup in the brewery is nice and open with half the space being used for seating, the other half being taken up by the brewery and fermentation tanks. I really like this setup, on several occasions the brewery has been operational during my visits. The brewers are always friendly willing to talk about the brewing process even while there were hard at work, brewing the latest batch of beer.

The front bar is located on the side of the brewery with most beers available on draught, unfortunately though the Foxy Pony on tap was sold out. Tasting pallets are available, with the brewery’s main six beers (Blonde, Pale, Amber, Copper, India Red and Black Ale), though if like me you have tried the whole range, I stick to India Red Ale and Copper Ale.

The brewery also has a kitchen on site and they cook up a pretty mean burger, but if you are just passing by you need to grab a hot buttered pretzel, they are prefect with a couple of cold beers.

If you have not yet visited the Prancing Pony Brewery it is well worth the trip up the South Eastern Freeway. Only 30 minutes from the toll-gate and it is a great scenic drive.
