In 1879 William Goodier built a brewery on the corner of Marion & Dislander streets Glanville. The Glanville Brewery's trademark was a sailing-ship and this featured on their labels. The brewery won several awards at the Adelaide International Expo of 1887 winning the best Porter prize. William was joined by his son William Hammon Goodier in 1898. in 1906 the Goodiers went into partnership with Mrs Martha Reid and traded as Goodier & Reid Brewing Company Ltd. The company went into liquidation on May 20th 1907. The brewery owners were charged with destroying their finance books in March 1907 at the time they declared insolvency. Goodier was listed as a brewer at Tussell Street Alberton from 1912 to 1915. |
