In the year 1857 Edward Logue constructed a brewery on King William Street, Kent Town at the former site of Dr Kents flour mill. In 1860 Mr. Edwin Smith went into partnership with Logue but later that same year Logue died, it was said that some major setbacks at the brewery contributed to his death, as the brewery had been damaged by fire and flooded server years later. Edwin Smith kept the brewery going and kept expanding the buildings and updating the machinery. In 1876 Smith constructed the Kent Town Brewery and disposed of Logue's Brewery. The premises were later used by the Macclesfield Brewery & the Co-Op Mineral Waters Co \ Williams Beverages. |
