Thomas Moulden leased ten acres of land a Brownhill creek in 1850 and started to construct a brewery near the creek. Thomas had some previous brewing knowledge as he had previously managed the Barleycorn Brewery within Adelaide. The brewery was up and running before the end of 1850 and Mr. Moulden advertised his ales in the local newspapers. By July 1851 the brewery was insolvent and closed. It is thought that the beer made at the brewery was not up to standard. Thomas later became the first brewer at the Morphett Street Brewery selling Mouldens Pale Ale |
