Alfred Ward and Francis Bertram created a bottling company on Wyatt Street near the Adelaide Brewery in 1884. Alfred Ward had been working in the brewing industry for a long period of time, firstly with the Walkerville Brewery and then the heading the bottling department of the Adelaide Aerated Waters and Brewing Company. Francis Bertram worked as a bottle merchant in the 1870's and 1880's, Alfred and Francis hired Robert McGowan from the Lion Bottling Company to assist in the bottling of Syme and Sison beers. This arrangement only lasted two years and the firm closed in 1885. |
