John Auld from the Torrens Brewery moved to Gawler Town in 1846, after the destruction of the Torrens Brewery by a flood in 1844. Mr Auld and his borther Thomas set to work building a brewery on Murray Street, in the centre of Gawler. The brewery was leased to George Robertson in the 1840's and then to Henry and Alfred Snelling from the Gawler Town Brewery. The Snelling Brothers declared insolvency in 1852, it is uncertain what happened to the brewery after that, but the property was put up for sale in after John Aulds death in August 1860, and there was no mention of brewing continuing at the site after Johns death. |
