The Penola Brewery was built in 1867 by Wilhelm Gebhardt from the South Australian Brewery in Mount Gambier. After construction was complete the brewery was managed by Gebhardt and operated by Ernest Seelinger. After a year of operation Gebhardt sold the brewery to Seelinger to concentrate on the Mount Gambier brewery. The brewery was sold to William Goedecke in 1873, he operated the brewery until his death in 1901. The brewery was put up for sale in 1902, but the brewery didn't continue after the sale. |
