Charles Henry Gray constructed a brewery in Stirling North in 1864, at the time the town was larger than Port Augusta and would have been a great distribution point for the far north towns. The brewery also manufactured aerated waters and cordials, but this venture was short lived and by 1867 Charles declared insolvency. The brewery was closed in and Charles moved to Port Augusta and started the Flinders Brewery. The brewery was purchased and operated by Mr Francis Smedley in 1867. |
