BURRA HOTEL


The Burra Hotel was built in 1846 with a brewery built in an adjoining building in 1848. The new brewery was named The Burra Brewery and supplied the hotel with beer. The Unicorn Brewery was opened in 1873, it was a much larger brewery, and the Burra Brewery was unable to compete. The Burra Brewery closed in 1874 with the Hotel a few years later in 1877.The Burra hotel was converted into a hospital. The original building was demolished in 1964.
