In October 1853, J.B. Spence and J.H. Parr bought Robert Ramsay's Aerated Water Manufactory on Flinders Street, Adelaide (Town Acre 233). Ramsay had acquired A. Malcolm's Carrara water manufactory machinery in February 1853 and relocated it behind the Freemasons Hotel. Spence had briefly worked with Malcolm’s aerated water manufactory on Franklin Street in December 1852. Spence and Parr then moved the manufactory to Town Acre 274 on Flinders Street, with Charles Phibbs as their cordial maker. Around 5th August 1854, Spence and Parr sold their business to Robert Haswell and William Elder. |
