Alfred Schramm established a brewery at Medindie in 1900, a year earlier he had applied for the trade mark 'O.K.' which he obtained, although an aerated water manufacturer in Port Adelaide had already had this trademark. The company was incorporated in 1903 when Joseph Morgan Newing joined Schramm the company traded as A. Schramm & Co. Ltd. The tradename of 'Ding Dong' was obtained in 1903. An agreement was made for Schramm to leave the company in 1903 and as part of the agreement, Schramm agreed to not brew within 100 Miles of Adelaide. Schramm moved to Broken Hill. Joseph Newing continued under the name Schramm & Co Ltd, but in 1908 Alfred Schramm returned to Adelaide and started the Alfa Brewing Co. in Unley. A lengthy court battle was ensued. Alfred Schramm won the court case and continued at the Alfa Brewing Co. Newing continued the OK Brewery and in 1936 the name was changed again to O.K. Brewing & Mineral Water Factory. Schramm was of German descendants and during World War 1 he had changed his name to Alfred Seaton. By the early 1920's Alfred was becoming too old to continue the business, so his son Frederick Robinson Seaton went into partnership with Alfred and they traded as Seaton & Son. Alfred Seaton died in 1924 and his son took over the business, continuing until 1928. Frederick was the manager of the Adelaide Brewing Limited in 1936.
