Clarks Brewery
In 1847, William Clark of the Halifax Street Brewery began preparations to establish a new brewery at Burra. Brewing equipment was manufactured and delivered to the site, and by December 1847 a deep well had been sunk in readiness for production. Despite these preparations, there is no surviving evidence that the brewery ever commenced operations. By the end of 1848, Clark had abandoned the project and relocated to Strathalbyn.
