Harold H Clark


Harold Hamilton Clark was the son of Edward Clark of the Goolwa brewery. In 1913 Clark was setting up a brewery and aerated water factory in Exeter, but he signed up to the Australian Army when World War One broke out.

Upon his return to Australia after the great war, Harold again looked to start up a brewing company and in 1930 he was granted a brewers license. Harold would be brewing out of Foureurs brewery in Mitcham and would be allowed to produce 450 dozen bottles a week.

This new brewing venture was short lived as the United Licensed Victuallers Association found Clark was selling beer under the list price set by the ULVA, and the Department for Trade and Customs withdrew approval for Clarks branding and the business stopped in 1932. Harold would join the newly formed Castlereagh brewery in 1933 as the head brewer.
