Glen Brewery

Castlereagh Brewery

The Glen brewery was constructed in Knoxville (which was renamed Glenside in the 1930's), on Conyngham Street in 1883. The brewery was run by Mr Herbert Smith until the late 1880's until he started working for the Torrenside Brewery. The brewery continued to operate and was later renamed to the Castlereagh brewery. The brewery was purchased in 1934, the new company took the Castlereagh name and purchased the Waverley Brewery and closed the Conyngham street site. For more information about the Castlereagh Brewery at Mitcham refer to the Waverly Brewery.
