Charles Faulkner built a hotel in Sliding Rock in 1874, and attached to the hotel was a small brewery to supply Sliding Rock with beer. Mr Charles Gray setup the brewery and it was later operated by Mr Faulkner. The brewery closed in 1878 when Mr Faulkner left the township.
