W. P. Auld & Sons


William Patrick Auld was born in Manchester in 1840, and two years later his parents left for South Australia. In William was in his 20's he left to explore the centre of Australia with John McDouall Stuart, while he was away his father established a vineyard in Magill.After finishing his exploring, Patrick returned to the family business. The winery was sold in 1886 and Patrick became a Wine, Beer and Spirit merchant on Gilbert Place, Adelaide.

J. P. Auld & Sons purchased bulk wine, beer and spirits and then repackaged it for sale in Adelaide. Patrick died in September 1912, and his son George took control of the company. The business was sold to the Adelaide Wine & Spirit Company Limited in 1923. The Adelaide Wine & Spirit Company Limited located in Hackney was controlled by the Walkerville Co-Operative Brewing Company. the Auld Family are still making wines, currently located in the Barossa Valley.
