| Constructed for Mr. Richard Vaughan between 1878 and 1879 by Michael McMullen, the building was designed in a style reminiscent of the Botanic Hotel and Chambers at the corner of North Terrace and East Terrace. The central portion served as a private family hotel, while the northern section along Hackney Road housed the Phillipson Bros. brewery. |
