The Berkshire hotel was built in 1855 but not licensed until December 1856. The hotel was renovated in 1880 with a new facade built. The hotel closed in 1909 with the building converted to a boarding house, with a fire breaking out in 1915. The building was converted to a group of flats in 1939 and named the Berkshire Court Flats. The building was demolished in 2014.
