The Bordertown Hotel was the second hotel in the Tatiara, first licensed in 1869 on Crocker Street at the western end of town beside the Kingston Road.
In 1903, the licence was transferred to a new, larger building on East Terrace, at the corner of Farquhar Street, a prime location to serve the growing railway trade.
The hotel was expanded in the 1920s with new accommodation rooms, and further modernised in later years with a dining room and bottle shop.
