The Crown Inn was first licensed in 1862 under the name Ship Inn, making it Kingston’s second hotel. It stood almost opposite the Kingston Arms on the main road into town, serving travellers and locals alike in the early years of settlement.
After a brief pause in trading during the late 1870s, the hotel reopened in 1880 under its new name, the Crown Inn. Over the years it has continued to evolve while maintaining its central role in the community.
Today, the Crown Inn remains open for business, proudly standing as one of only two hotels still operating in Kingston.
