Lovely Valley Brewery

Myponga Brewery

The Lovely Valley Beverage Company gets its name from a quote by a governor in the 1800s while visiting the Myponga area. It is said that upon seeing the region from the road, he remarked, "What a lovely valley."

Myponga is well known for its historic cheese factory, which has since closed and now operates as a country market. Behind the former cheese factory is the Lovely Valley Beverage Company.

Established in 2004, the brewery produces thirteen different beers and stouts, along with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic soft drinks. Each beverage is crafted using the brewery’s unique water, which is naturally rich in calcium and other minerals due to filtration through the region’s coral-based bedrock. The beers are made from extract, brewed in small batches, and capped by hand.

In 2006, Hog Bay on Kangaroo Island began selling Lovely Valley beers under the Hog Bay label; however, this venture lasted only a year.

The brewery was sold in c2010 and was renamed to Myponga Brewery, the new owners improved the cellar door and sold the brewery in 2012.
