| Uraidla Brewery was established in the Adelaide Hills township of Uraidla, South Australia, and became one of the region’s best-known modern brewery venues. Located within the historic Uraidla Hotel on Greenhill Road, the brewery combined craft beer, hospitality and local Adelaide Hills produce, helping transform the hotel into a major destination within the Hills food and beverage scene. The Uraidla Hotel itself dates back to the nineteenth century and has long been an important stopping point for travellers moving between Adelaide and the eastern Adelaide Hills districts. The township of Uraidla developed during the mid-1800s as part of the Hills agricultural and orchard region, and hotels in the area traditionally serviced farmers, timber workers and travellers using the winding Greenhill Road route through the hills. The modern redevelopment of the hotel began in 2015, when major renovations to restore and modernise the historic hotel while preserving much of its heritage character. The vision focused heavily on local Adelaide Hills food, wine and beer, reflecting the growing tourism profile of the region. As part of the redevelopment, Uraidla Brewery was established on-site in 2018 under brewer and founder Oscar Matthews. The brewery was installed inside the hotel complex and designed to supply fresh beer directly to the venue while also producing packaged releases for broader distribution. The brewery quickly became an important part of Adelaide Hills tourism, attracting visitors travelling through the region for wineries, restaurants and weekend hospitality experiences. Alongside breweries such as Lobethal Bierhaus, Prancing Pony and Sidewood, Uraidla Brewery helped establish the Adelaide Hills as one of Australia’s strongest regional craft beer areas. Today Uraidla Brewery remains closely associated with the Uraidla Hotel and continues to operate as part of the hotel’s broader hospitality experience, combining brewing, dining and local tourism within one of the Adelaide Hills’ best-known historic hotels.   |
