The brewery was founded in 2014 by Jack Cameron, Red Proudfoot, and Michael Cameron. The three friends, all with a passion for beer and brewing, decided to start their own brewery after home brewing together for several years. The brewery officially opened its doors in 2015, and quickly gained popularity for its hoppy beers, particularly its flagship beer, the Pirate Life Pale Ale. The brewery's success led to the opening of a new brewery and taproom in Port Adelaide in 2019, which included a larger production facility and a tasting room. In 2017, Pirate Life Brewing was acquired by Australian beer company, Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), a subsidiary of AB InBev. The acquisition allowed Pirate Life to expand its distribution and production capabilities, and the brewery continues to produce a wide range of popular beers, including IPAs, stouts, and lagers. |
