The Thistle Brewery was started by Mr John McAskill. John had previously worked for the Caledonian Brewery in Eastwood, and he left the business to start a bottling business bottling Calidonian Beer. Johns trade make was a thistle, and by 1890 John had built a brewery in Glen Osmond, named the Thistle Brewery. The brewery closed in 1895, with John becoming the second brewery at the East Adelaide Brewery. After the East Adelaide Brewery closed, John moved to Maylands and sold alcoholic drinks and was an agent for the Macclesfield Brewery. |
