Edward Dutton from the Noarlunga Brewery constructed a brewery in Yankalilla in 1862, the popularity of the beer
brewed had become famous, and by 1864 Edward had built a new brewery in Goolwa, with Edward operating
both establishments at the same time. John Edmonds was hired as the brewer at the Yankalilla brewery. Edward
continued both breweries until 1871 when the Yankalilla brewery was put up for sale. Benjamin Pascoe had previously
operated the Normanville brewery just a few miles from Yankalilla.
Benjamin had successfully brewed until 1886 when he moved to Port MacDonnell Bay, the brewery was sold
to Alfred Martin. Alfred brewed for three years before his brother Edgar took control of the brewery. The brewery was sold in 1892 and brewing ceased.![]() Adelaide Observer, 9th October 1886 |
