Not much is known about Jeremiah Smiths business, but he got into a fist fight with fellow aerated water manufacturer Alexander Malcolm in January 1851. Malcolm confronted Smith in the middle of a street, Smith accused Malcolm of being too fond of ducks, which Malcolm and a friend chased Mr Smith to his business and punched him about the face leaving him with two black eyes. Mr Smith took Mr Malcolm to court and won 2 pounds compensation. |
